ACTION SPACE
du 15 Janvier au 12 Mars 2017
Londres
As part of its ongoing talks and educational program The Museum of Everything cordially invites you to attend an event celebrating the figurative oeuvre of the late Nigel Kingsbury.
The discussion will be held in collaboration with Charlotte Hollinshead and Sheryll Catto of Action Space – London’s leading assisted art-making studio for artists with communication issues.
The work of Action Space is truly radical, in that it is run by artists for artists.
The inter-participatory nature of the practice allows artist to evolve over several years, giving them astonishing confidence with materials to which they would never otherwise have access.
Artists with so-called learning difficulties are chronically under-represented in Britain’s museums and galleries.
There are none (to our knowledge) in the collections of Tate Modern or Tate Britain.
This situation is echoed worldwide, although it is notable that three of The Museum of Everything’s featured artists have been selected for official inclusion at the Venice Biennale this year.
Moreover, there seems only ever to have been one major international museum retrospective – being Judith Scott from the Creative Growth Center in California – whose work was also exhibited in London by The Museum of Everything in 2011, and who is now one of the three artists selected for Venice.
The Museum of Everything is proud to work with over 500 assisted studios across the world and with organisations as far afield as Australia, Japan, Africa and Russia.
